A 16-year-old girl rescued a 74-year-old woman, who fell down the stairs in her garage in the United States, by calling an ambulance and staying by the older woman鈥檚 side.

The elderly woman named Betty Williams was staying with her daughter in Palmer Lake, Colorado when the accident occurred last month. She had apparently been calling for help for 20 minutes before high school student Hannah Dreher found her, ABC-affiliate KRDO reported last Tuesday, June 16.

Dreher, a high school student who lived a few houses away, was outside practicing volleyball when she saw the woman鈥檚 dog, Rusty, wandering around. The teen went to Williams鈥檚 residence to return the pet when she heard the older woman鈥檚 cries for help.

According to the report, Dreher stayed with Williams until the emergency medical technician arrived. Willams had fractured her femur due to the fall.

鈥淭he young lady came to check on her while she was still at the hospital and also baked my mom cookies and came to visit once she was home,鈥 Williams鈥 daughter, Judy Ankeney, was quoted as saying.

The student dreams of becoming a nurse for people with special needs.

鈥淚t鈥檚 my passion,鈥 Dreher said in the report.

The two women have formed a friendship since the accident. Williams expressed how she was grateful for Dreher. The teen said that she and Williams will be friends for 鈥渁s long as we both shall live.鈥 Cha Lino/JB
