Health workers in PH with COVID-19 now over 3,100; recoveries up to 2,235

MANILA, Philippines — The confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases involving healthcare workers in the country has reached 3,122, according to the latest data from the Department of Health (DOH).

In its COVID-19 situation report released Sunday, the DOH said total recoveries among health workers now stand at 2,235 or over 71.5 percent of the total cases.

Meanwhile, 854 or over 27 percent are deemed active cases.

The total COVID-19 death count involving health workers remains at 33.

Under Republic Act 11469 or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, health workers who become severely ill in the line of duty are to get compensation of P100,000 while the family of those who died of COVID-19 in the line of duty should get P1 million.

The DOH again included the data on health workers in its daily situationer nearly a week after it changed the format of the report.

The last report including COVID-19 data among health workers was released on June 14.

DOH’s latest data showed that nurses account for the majority of the cases with 1,126. Cases among doctors stand at 811 although it recorded the highest deaths with 24.
