Pampanga gov wants longer MGCQ though province tagged low-risk

/ 07:06 PM June 29, 2020

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Pampanga Gov. Dennis Pineda has asked the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) to extend the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) in the province until July 15.

Pineda made the request even as he cited data showing the province as a low-risk area for COVID-19 transmission.

Pampanga has already recorded 133 COVID-19 cases, two of which were recorded on Monday (June 29).

Pineda said the two newest cases involved two seamen who broke quarantine rules by eating together while awaiting results of their coronavirus tests.

One turned out positive for COVID-19, spreading the virus during the shared meals.
