MANILA, Philippines — Five more Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) personnel have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total infection in the agency to 9, MMDA Spokesperson Celine Pialago said Thursday.

The MMDA office is currently on lockdown for disinfection measures.

“Ang disinfection po ay tatagal hanggang Linggo. By then po siguro pwede nang mag-back to normal ang operations lalo na po nung ilang opisina. Pero paglilinaw po, ‘yung traffic management, ‘yung mga enforcers po natin tuluy-tuloy pa rin po ang trabaho,” Pialago said in a televised press briefing.

(The disinfection will last through Sunday. By then maybe the operations may return to normal especially in some offices. But to clarify, our traffic enforcers will remain on duty.)

The MMDA on Wednesday announced that four of its employees were infected with the respiratory disease.
