One reporter from Florida, United States discovered she had cancer, thanks to a concerned viewer.

Victoria Price, who works at WFLA 黑料社 in Tampa Bay, expressed her gratitude to the viewer in a statement on Twitter last Friday, July 24.

鈥溾��8 on Your Side鈥� isn鈥檛 just a catchphrase at WFLA. It鈥檚 our cornerstone. But the roles recently reversed when I found a viewer on MY side, and I couldn鈥檛 be more grateful,鈥� she said.

A bit of ~personal news~ to share.

Turns out, I have cancer. And I owe it to one of our wonderful viewers for bringing it to my attention.

I鈥檒l be off work for a bit after tomorrow, but I鈥檒l see y鈥檃ll soon 馃グ

鈥淲e were covering the most important health story in a century, but my own health was the farthest thing from my mind. Until a viewer emailed me last month,鈥� Price recalled.

鈥淪he saw a lump on my neck. Said it reminded her of her own. Hers was cancer.鈥�

The broadcast journalist got the lump checked and found out it was cancer. She is set for surgery on Monday to have the tumor removed, along with her thyroid and nearby lymph nodes.

鈥淒octor says it鈥檚 spreading, but not too much and we鈥檙e hopeful this will be my first and last procedure,鈥� Price said.

She shared a picture in to better show the mass: 鈥淒oc explained that the tumor is in the middle of my thyroid, pushing the glands up and out, hence the subtle protrusion.鈥�

鈥淚 will forever be grateful to the woman who went out of her way to email me, a total stranger,鈥� the reporter said. 鈥淪he had zero obligation to, but she did anyway. Talk about being on your side, huh?鈥�

She added in her tweet that she will take time off 鈥渇or a bit.鈥�
