Navotas cops apprehend 5,853 violators as city ends lockdown on July 29

MANILA, Philippines — On the eve of the lifting of the lockdown imposed in Navotas City due to the new coronavirus, authorities reported that more than 5,000 violators of health protocols have been apprehended since July 16.
The Navotas City police in an update on Tuesday said a total of 5,853 residents were caught violating health rules and city ordinances during the 14-day lockdown that will end tomorrow, July 29.
Police also said that of the total number of apprehended lockdown violators, 304 are minors while 5,549 are adults.

As of July 27, Navotas recorded 1,518 cases of COVID-19 with 725 considered as “active”. Of the total, 87 died while 706 were able to recover.
Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco imposed the two-week lockdown in a bid to arrest the rising number of COVID-19 transmission in the city.
