Authorities verifying info on P47.6M shabu allegedly sourced from Bilibid inmate

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities are verifying information that a convicted drug lord continues to operate in the illegal drug trade, following the confiscation of P47.6 million worth of shabu in Cebu City that was allegedly sourced from him.

Philippine National Police chief Gen. Camilo Cascolan said one of three arrested couriers in an anti-drug operation launched Sunday revealed that the seized shabu, which came from San Carlos City, Negros Oriental, belonged to a certain Rustico “Dikoy” Ygot.

Ygot is currently detained at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City after being convicted of drug charges in 2013.

“I have directed PDEG (PNP Drug Enforcement Group) to coordinate closely with PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency) and BUCOR (Bureau of Corrections) to validate information of the alleged continued operation of illegal drugs activities by a convicted drug lord even while serving sentence inside prison,” the PNP chief said in a press briefing on Monday.
