Cauayan City logs 1st COVID-19 death
CAUAYAN CITY –– A 50-year-old man here has died due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), officials said.
The patient, a resident of Barangay Turayong, was the city’s first fatality related to COVID-19, said Mayor Bernard Faustino Dy.
Dy said the man started exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 on Sept. 29 and was swabbed for testing on Oct. 1.
Two days later, he died due to complications from sepsis, multiple organ failure, and chronic renal failure at the Cauayan District Hospital. The result of his swab test, which was positive for COVID-19, was released on the same day.
The city has eight active COVID-19 cases as of Sunday. The latest was a 64-year-old woman in Minante Uno village.
