MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Regional Trial Court has reduced the furlough it gave political detainee Reina Mae Nasino in visiting the wake of her daughter baby River following a letter from the Manila City Jail.

In its two-page order, Manila RTC has reduced Nasino’s visit from three straight days to only only two days — Oct. 14 and 16, from 1pm to 4pm each day.

The Manila Court amended its Oct. 13 order after the Manila City Jail Officer-In-Charge Maria Ignacia Monteron said they only have 12 personnel that could be utilized as an outside force. The outside forces, she said assist in the turning over of the inmates that are up for release or as an escort for inmates that needed to be hospitalized.

“As of today, we have 665 PDL who are under our custody, thus, we are depleted of personnel,” she said in her letter.

The Manila Court, in its ruling, said: “upon consideration of the respective arguments and positions of both parties and considering the nature of the crimes as charged, the Court finds that the Order of this Court dated 13 October 2020 allowing accused Reina Mae Nasino to attend the wake and burial of her daughter needs to be amended.”
