A human skull that had been put on display above a fireplace mantel was identified as a man who had been missing since September 2012.
The skull, which belonged to one Junior Will McCann, was discovered last year in Tennessee, USA, as per WVLT on Oct. 27.
It had been used as a decoration piece, complete with sunglasses, for a year before authorities were informed about it.
The sheriff鈥檚 office then retrieved the skull and had it undergo DNA testing under the Knox County Regional Forensics Center and the UT Department of Anthropology, according to the report.
It was then indeed identified as belonging to McCann, around eight years after he was declared missing.
鈥淪peculation and rumor is that Junior McCann was possibly killed by a family member who is now deceased as well,鈥 District attorney Russell Johnson was quoted as stating in a release.聽Ian Biong聽/ra
