Woman pleads guilty to killing salon manager over manicure bill

A woman who drove over a salon manager in Nevada, United States two years ago over a $35 (around P1,600) bill dispute has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

Krystal Whipple has been facing numerous charges since December 2018, when she fled a Las Vegas salon without paying and killed the 53-year old manager Nhu “Annie” Nguyen, as per CBS affiliate KLAS-TV on Dec. 4.

After the plea deal, Whipple is now facing a 10 to 25-year prison sentence. She is set to be sentenced on Feb. 21 next year.

Prior to pleading guilty to second-degree murder, Whipple initially faced burglary, robbery and stolen vehicle charges, as per Las Vegas Review-Journal on Dec. 3.

According to police records, Whipple tried to pay the salon with a credit card but was declined a few times. She then claimed that she needs to go outside to get some money but then attempted to leave.

Nguyen, a mother of three, and her boyfriend ran after Whipple but she got into a stolen car and struck Nguyen, the report said, dragging her through the parking lot and killing her. Ian Biong/JB
