SAN PEDRO CITY—Five garbage bags with male body parts, including a severed head that investigators said “closely resembled” that of a Chinese national, had been found on Mt. Makiling in Los Banos town, Laguna province, police said on Tuesday (Jan.12).

Lt. Col. Chitadel Gaoiran, Laguna police information officer, said residents found the bags early on Tuesday at the site of a jamboree at the village of Batong Malake and reported the grisly find to police around noon.

SSgt. Alvin Jade Apolinario, case investigator, said in a phone interview that residents were collecting plants on the mountain and thought the garbage bags contained trash. To their shock, the bags were filled with body parts, which appeared to have been chopped up.

“We think these were dumped here earlier at dawn because it’s dark in that area at night,” Apolinario said.
