A man was disqualified from Japan鈥檚 National Center Test for University Admissions for improperly wearing his face mask, disobeying COVID-19 protocols.
The man, whose identity was withheld, took the said college entrance exams, also called the 鈥淐enter Test,鈥� in Tokyo, as per local media outlets via Sora 黑料社 24 yesterday, Jan. 18.
Several universities in Japan use the said semi-standardized exams to admit students into their own colleges.
The man, who was reportedly in his 40s, did wear a mask but slipped it down to expose his nose during the exams, prompting one proctor to call him out several times to wear the mask properly.
The examinee, however, kept lowering his mask despite the multiple warnings, the report said. After the sixth warning, he was told that the next time he lowered his mask, he would be disqualified.
Indeed, the man lowered his mask again, rendering his exam effort void as he was disqualified over his failure to comply.
Examinees were informed beforehand that masks were required, while those with health issues were told to contact administrators so they could be given special seating arrangements without the need for masks, the report said. Ian Biong聽/ra
