MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo travelled around Camarines Sur on Friday to visit community learning hubs and other projects led by her office in the province, which was battered by successive storms back in November.

According to the Office of the Vice President (OVP), Robredo first led the formal turnover of a shared service facility (SSF) — an area where various equipment for food processing and packaging are found — in Camarines Sur’s Tinambac town.

OVP said that this shared service facility is initiated in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry office in the province, and is under OVP’s Omasenso sa Kabuhayan program.

Under this program, private partners, this time from the Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, helped farmer-beneficiaries assistance on finding additional sources of income especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Omasenso farmers of Tinambac now produce  cucumber chips, sweet chili sauce, and other food products,” OVP said.

“Launched in 2018, Omasenso sa Kabuhayan is an initiative of the OVP, which seeks to uplift the lives of farmers in Camarines Sur by helping them become agri-entrepreneurs. The program is made possible in partnership with government agencies and the private sector, including industrial buyers such as hotels, restaurants, and other business establishments,” it added

Robredo then visited the community learning hub in Barangay Sabang of San Jose town, another area that sustained heavy damage after Rolly wreaked havoc over Bicol Region.

Two more sets of SSF were also initiated in Tigaon and Ocampo towns Camarines Sur, with DTI as OVP’s partner too.  Same materials were also given to the residents and farmers in the areas mentioned.

Robredo’s last stop was at the turnover of the SSF facility in Naga City, still with the Omasenso sa Kabuhayan program.
