19 suspected illegal STL bet collectors nabbed in Laguna

LUCENA CITY – Police arrested nineteen suspected bet collectors for the illegal operation of Small Town Lottery (STL) or “bookies” were arrested in synchronized operations in Laguna on Saturday, police said Sunday.

The Laguna police said the following suspects were arrested: Almario Dela Cruz, Angelina Marcuap, Carmen Ferrer, Mercy Anyayahan, Erik Ilao, Ella Mae San Jose, Rafael Palma, Corazon Breganza, Sanny Agbayani, Emy Corpuz, Leo Magbitang, Rolan Santos, Erwin Manahan, Franz Santos, Cristobal De Villa, Julius Santos, Daniel Martinez, Acemel Diaz and Teodolo Mamino.

The suspects were nabbed while collecting bets in the towns of Pakil, Pangil, Siniloan, Paete, Calauan, Nagcarlan, Famy, Sta. Maria and the cities of San Pedro, Calamba, and San Pablo.

The suspects failed to produce legitimate identification cards issued by Ramloid Gaming Corporation, the licensed STL operator in the province.

Seized from the suspects were STL “lastillas” or bet collection forms, paraphernalia, and customers’ cash bets.
