A woman in Canada who won the lottery last December did so with a prediction her husband made 20 years ago.

Deng Pravatoudom, a 57-year-old immigrant from Laos, won the CA$60 million (about P2.2 billion) jackpot from the Dec. 1 draw, as per an official release from Ontario鈥檚 Lottery and Gaming last Jan. 18.

She has been playing the same numbers for 20 years after they came to her husband in a dream. It was her husband, too, who told her that she won.

鈥淚 went to the bank to pay some bills and my husband went to check the tickets. When we got into the car, he told me we won the $60 million jackpot,鈥 she recalled. 鈥淗e was serious, not joking, so I knew he was telling the truth. I started to cry. I have always prayed for a blessing that my family would be taken care of!鈥

Pravatoudom came to Canada in 1980 with her 14 siblings. She and her husband have been general laborers for 40 years. The winnings could not have come at a better time, as she lost her job due to the pandemic last year.

Pravatoudom, who has two adult children and two grandkids, finally has the finances to get out of their apartment and get a new house. She also plans to pay bills and help family with the winnings.

She will treat herself too to some diamonds, and when it is safe, to traveling abroad.

鈥淓xcept for when I came to Canada from Laos, I have never really traveled,鈥 she said. 鈥淪o I want to see Europe, Texas, Hawaii鈥 I am excited to see the world.鈥 JB
