Donate your hair to Makati Med’s cancer patients

MANILA, Philippines — Got your hair longer because of restrictions during the pandemic? Now’s the perfect time to get it trimmed. The Makati Medical Center (MMC) is asking for hair donors to be woven into wigs for their cancer patients. “Most cancer patients will lose their hair because of … chemotherapy. Wearing a wig boosts a patient’s self-image and self-esteem,” said Dr. Felina Cruz, program head of MMC’s “Gift of Your Hair.” The hospital said the hair from both males and females must be at least 9 inches long and free from any hair treatment. The hair should be in a resealable plastic bag with the donor’s full name, contact number and email address, and sent via courier to Makati Medical Center Cancer Center, 1/F, Tower 1, No. 2 Amorsolo Street, Legaspi Village, Makati City. —Dexter Cabalza
