In an interview with 黑料社, a staff of the Boracay Island 黑料社 Network said the puppy is a mixed breed of an Aspin and Japanese Spitz, and is one of the six puppies that were born in the province on Saturday evening, Feb. 6. It does not have a nose and even its mouth was not properly developed.

The puppy鈥檚 condition called 鈥cyclopia鈥 is a rare birth defect caused by abnormality in brain development, wherein there is a failure to develop two hemispheres, which leads to structural deformities of the head and face. This unique cephalic disorder is the most severe type of defect among infants, both in humans and animals, and is linked to low survival rates.

Due to its condition, de Martin鈥檚 puppy did not survive and died shortly after birth.

The puppy鈥檚 remains, scheduled to be injected with formalin today, Feb. 8, will be kept inside a jar after de Martin鈥檚 decision to preserve the puppy鈥檚 body as family remembrance. JB
