46-year-old man confirmed as 1st UK variant case in Ilocos Norte; all contacts identified
LAOAG CITY –– The Ilocos Norte provincial government on Monday, Feb. 15, has confirmed that a 46-year old man, who returned to the province, had tested positive for the more contagious UK variant of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
According to the statement released by the provincial government, the patient, tagged as “Patient C-19-UK-1,” was a returning resident of Pasuquin town. He arrived in the country from Bahrain on Jan. 23.
Officials said the patient arrived in Ilocos Norte on Feb. 8 after completing a 14-day mandatory quarantine in a facility in Metro Manila.
He was immediately isolated upon arrival at the Ilocos Norte border.
All contacts of the patient have been identified by a provincial task force and would be swabbed this week, according to the provincial government.
