Cases of local transmission emerge in new COVID-19 cases in Calapan City

CITY OF CALAPAN—Six new COVID-19 cases had been reported by authorities here on Tuesday (March 16).

In a Facebook post, Mayor Arnan Panaligan said three cases involved a 39-year-old woman from the village of Lalud, a 46-year-old male health care worker from teh village of Sta. Maria and a 38-year-old man from the village of Sto. Niño who works at the Land Transportation Office in the city.

One of the three other cases was that of a 24-year-old male employee of a telecommunications firm from the village of Balite and had been in contact with a COVID-19 patient. Another is a 58-year-old woman from the village of Sto. Niño who has been in contact with and a relative of a COVID-19 patient. The other is a 64-year-old woman from the village of San Vicente East.

No case of recovery was reported among the six newly-infected city residents.

According to the city tally as of noon on Tuesday, there was a total of 766 cases with 738 recoveries and 12 deaths.
