Calapan reports 10 new COVID-19 cases

CITY OF CALAPAN, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines  — The Health and Sanitation Department of this city reported 10 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, March 21, most of them contacts of patients who had tested positive for the viral disease.

Two of the new cases — a police officer and an elderly health care worker — were contacts of a Land Transportation Office (LTO) worker who had tested positive for COVID-19.

The new cases were found through contact tracing by local health authorities.

Among the new cases are a 60-year-old male healthcare worker, a 33-year-old policewoman and a 39-year-old policeman who were contacts of another COVID-19 patient, and a 29-year-old woman who is a contact of another LTO worker and COVID-19 patient. All of them are residents of Barangay Bulusan.

Another contact of a COVID-positive LTO worker is a 37-year-old man from Barangay Lalud.

A 32-year-old man from Barangay Pachoca is also a contact of a COVID-positive LTO worker.

A 39-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman from Barangay Canubing came into contact with COVID-positive patients.

A 43-year-old woman from Barangay Sto. Nino is a contact of a COVID-positive patient.

A 27-year-old man from Barangay Sta. Isabel is an LTO worker and contact of another COVID-positive LTO worker.

As of Sunday, March 21, the city has logged 787 COVID-19 cases, with 34 active cases, 741 recoveries, and 12 deaths.
