MANILA, Philippines — A baby found abandoned near a pile of garbage in Batasan Hills, Quezon City, on Monday has died.

Officers from the Batasan Hills Police Station 6 told in a phone interview that first responders brought the baby to the Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital, where healthcare providers later declared her dead on arrival.

The Batasan police said it appears that the baby was born within the day, being not older than 24 hours.
