MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Association of Meat Processors Inc. (PAMPI) on Thursday encouraged stakeholders to take advantage of the temporary reduction of import duties on pork and other meat products.

“We understand that this reduction of duties is for all importers, and we enjoin the country’s hog industry to take part as well,” PAMPI Vice President Jerome Ong said in a statement shared on social media Thursday.

“If they import themselves, they would be able to recover part of their losses and at the same time enable them to serve their network of pork dealers and ultimately benefit the consumers.” he added

On April 7, President Rodrigo Duterte issued Executive Order (EO) 128 that allows temporary reduction in import duties on fresh, chilled or frozen meat.
