MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck off Catanduanes near the Philippine Trench on Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Ìý³§tate seismologists said the tremor struck 96 kilometers (km) southeast of Baras, Catanduanes at 12:29 p.m.
Phivolcs said the quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 32 km.
No significant damage to property and aftershocks are expected, Phivolcs added.Â
