2 dead, 5 hurt in Zamboanga del Sur road crash

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines —  Two persons were killed and five others injured when a car bumped into a tricycle and three motorbikes on Friday evening (May 21).

The car, a Kia Sorento driven by a certain Raiyan Pantaran Haron, was traveling on the national highway from Labangan town towards Pagadian City when it bumped into the tricycle driven by Mark Ruvel Senia as it reached Barangay Bulanit.

The car flipped over and slid towards the other lane, slamming into the three motorcycles from Pagadian traveling towards Labangan town. The drivers and passengers of the motorcycles were thrown off to a nearby ricefield.

According to a police report, Abe Bago Salinding, 41, and Michael Sean Maylana Quiamat, 14, died on the spot due to the impact of the crash.

Those injured were identified as Mark Ruvel Senia, 25, of Upper Sang-an; Benladin Magumpara Damada, 21, of New Labangan; and Aradzel Magumpara Maulana, 17, Saas Guibar Laguib, 16, and Ujer Esmalde, 17, all residents of Upper Campo Islam.

Residents in the area rushed them to the nearest hospital.

According to the police, Haron voluntarily surrendered to the authorities.
