MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila and the rest of the Philippines are expected to have overcast skies with isolated rains from late Monday afternoon until Tuesday, May 25, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In its 24-hour forecast issued 4 p.m. Monday, the state weather service said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

At present, the easterlies or the warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean largely affect the Philippines’ climate.

Pagasa said flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms and so residents in these areas are advised to be on alert and seek safety if needed.

A portion of Palawan will experience moderate winds as well as moderate coastal conditions, the weather bureau also said, while the Visayas region and the rest of Luzon will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate sea situation.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters will likewise occur in Mindanao, it added.

Also on Monday, Pagasa said it recorded a minimum temperature of 26.5°C (5:30 a.m.) and a maximum temperature of 34.8°C (1:50 p.m.) at its Science Garden weather station located in Diliman, Quezon City.
