ZAMBOANGA CITY — Authorities arrested nine suspected members of the Daulah Islamiyah-Maute Group on Saturday, May 29, in Paigoay village, Tuburan town, Lanao del Sur.
Lt. General Corleto Vinluan Jr., chief of the Western Mindanao Command (WMC), said the combined police and military personnel went to the house of Farahufon Hadji Satar and Muna Kali in Paigoay village to serve the arrest warrant for multiple murder but were fired upon while they were approaching the target.
Some suspects were subdued but Satar and Kali eluded arrest, he said.
Vinluan said Satar, 43, also known as Abu Zacariah and Omar, and Kali, also known as Abu Dimam, were behind the murder of Staff Sergeant Jonathan Manisan, Staff Sergeant Aldy Wahid and Private First Class Aldon Acer on March 11, 2019 in Sitio Palaasun, Calaludan, Pagayawan, Lanao del Sur.
Vinluan identified the nine arrested suspects as Camaroden Tindug, 52; Sabdullah Sarip, 36; Oter Macaungun, 35; Asnare Alisood, 20; Alisood Dima, 52; Sowaib Abdullah, 18; Saaduden Adapun, 30; Zaenal Abdulatip, 33; and Aleem Salih Pitiilan, 45. They were all brought to the Lanao del Sur provincial police for the filing of appropriate charges.
Brigadier General Jose Maria Cuerpo II, commander of the 103rd Marine Brigade, said they seized from the suspects two M16 rifles, three M16 magazines with live ammunition, one carbine, two caliber 45 pistols, two base radio, six portable radio, six touch screen cell phones, seven keypad cell phones, one laptop, two USBs, one improvised explosive device, cartridge and slugs of 45 pistol, wallets, cash and propaganda materials. — Julie Alipala, Inquirer Mindanao
