Cop, engineer among 12 new COVID-19 cases in Zambales

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales –– Twelve new cases of COVID-19 and 18 recoveries were added Sunday to this province’s tally, bringing the total active cases to 409.

Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said among the new patients is a 45-year-old police officer in the capital town of Iba.

The policeman had no travel history outside the province but was exposed to an infected colleague. He showed some symptoms of the disease and was later confirmed positive.

In Castillejos town, A 32-year-old female engineer who works in the Subic Bay Freeport had also tested positive for the virus.

The other new cases are aged 5 to 71, who were exposed to their infected relatives.

The province now has 2,443 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic broke out last year, of which 53 died while being treated at the hospitals. INQ
