Dragons nip Lancers

THE CEBU EASTERN College Dragons utilized their familiarity of their own home court to post a lopsided 82-64 win over the University of the Visayas Baby Lancers in the 16-under Division A class of the 2012 ThreeSixty Pharmacy Cup yesterday at the CEC gym.

The Dragons, now 3-0 (win-loss),  used a sizzling performance in the third period to break the game wide open. The game was played on even terms in the first half as it ended with deadlock at 30-all.

However, the Dragons came alive, thanks to the scorching shooting of Mark Berdera and Richmond Buli-Buli, who combined to score 22 of their 29-point output in that stretch.

Berdera was a one-man wrecking crew as he scored all the points in a 10-0 blast, comprised of two trifectas, a three-point play and a free-throw that erected a 56-39 lead for the Dragons. They eventually brought a 58-43 lead into the final period.

CEC’s lead reached a high of 22 as Berdera hit the last of his three-pointers while in stark contrast, UV struggled finding their shots.

The Baby Lancers made the score respectable with a late rally. UV played without their heart and soul, Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. juniors MVP Paul Andres Desiderio.

Berdera led the way for CEC with 18 poins while Buli-Buli tallied 13. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
