3 more cadets in Zambales maritime academy test positive for COVID-19

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales—At least three more cadets in the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) in San Narciso town had tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday (June 23), an official said.

Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said the cadets, aged 21 to 25, were among the 24 new COVID-19 cases in the province.

All of them displayed symptoms of the disease and were isolated, along with the 200 other infected PMMA cadets and personnel, in a quarantine facility inside the academy.

A total of 323 COVID-19 cases were listed there since an outbreak was reported on May 23.

The province now has 3,249 total COVID-19 cases since last year. At least 626 remained active, 2,547 had recovered, and 45 had died.
