CEBU CITY Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI-7) on Monday filed criminal charges against a suspected drug den supervisor who also exposed her two-year-old son to illegal drugs in Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City.

According to NBI-7 Director Augustus Rennan Oliva, they received information that the suspect often gives illegal drugs to his two-year-old son.

“This is very alarming. Imagine a toddler given a shabu by his own mother. When we rescued the baby, he was disoriented and in a bad physical condition,” he said.

The NBI-7 is going after the boy’s mother who escaped during the operation last June 24.

Charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and child abuse were filed against the woman at the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office.

Since the suspect remains at large, the case will undergo a regular preliminary investigation where she will be given the chance to submit a counter-affidavit and refute the allegations.

“In fact, we learned from the suspect’s neighbors that she would give a tooter to the boy to serve as his lollipop. She will give it to the boy so he will stop crying,” Oliva said.
