PNP to cooperate with NBI probe on ‘kidnapping’ by cops in Manila — Eleazar

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police chief Guillermo Eleazar assured on Wednesday that the national police will be cooperating with the probe of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on the reported kidnappings of three persons in Manila’s Sta. Cruz district allegedly by police officers.

PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, in a statement, also appealed to the public not to prejudge the national police pending the results of the NBI’s probe.

“Seryosong alegasyon po ito na dapat nating tutukan (this is a serious allegation that we must focus on). But at this point, let us allow the investigation of the NBI to take its course at huwag po muna sana nating agad husgahan ang ating kapulisan (please don’t judge our police immediately),” Eleazar said.

“Tinitiyak ko naman na sa oras na mapatunayan na totoong may nagkamali sa aming hanay hindi natin ito palalagpasin,” he added.

Eleazar gave the assurance after two police assets tagged police officers as the ones allegedly behind the abduction of Rexcell John Hipolito, 23; Ronald Jae Dizon, 21; and Ivan Serrano, 18.

The police assets added that the three kidnap victims were marijuana peddlers.

The police assets added that they were with police officers when the three men were taken from their neighborhood in Sta. Cruz, Manila on April 7. The police assets are now in the custody of the NBI.

“Kagaya po ng mga pamilya ng mga biktima, gusto ko din po malaman ang buong katotohanan sa nangyari,” Eleazar said.
