OLONGAPO CITY-Some overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) lined up for the continuation of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in this city on Wednesday, June 30. Aside from senior citizens and those with existing ailments, the city accommodated OFWs who were expected to leave the country within the next four months. Officials said 700 more vaccine doses arrived in the city and had to be administered immediately to people belonging to the priority sectors. The local government has been rolling out its mass COVID-19 vaccine at the SMX Convention Center of SM Central Olongapo, which could accommodate at least 1,000 people at one time. Last week, Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said the city had so far vaccinated about 17,800 residents and at least 4,400 of them had received their second dose of the vaccine. They were given the Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines. About 140,000 residents here need to be vaccinated to achieve herd immunity, Paulino said. INQ
