Drug suspect hurt in Quezon buy-bust
LUCENA CITY – A suspected drug pusher suffered a bullet wound after he resisted arrest in Candelaria town in Quezon province on Saturday, report said Sunday.
Candelaria police in a report said a policeman was about to arrest Christian Balmes after he sold a pack of shabu (crystal meth) to the cop who acted as a drug user in Barangay (village) Mangilag Sur around 5 p.m.
But the suspect suddenly grabbed the service firearm of a backup policeman. During the scuffle, the gun accidentally fired and hit Balmes in the right foot.
The policeman also sustained a hand injury during the struggle.
The suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment while authorities seized one plastic sachet of shabu with a street value of P102,408 from him.
The police also confiscated a motorcycle believed to have been used by the suspect in his illegal drug trade.
