DAGUPAN CITY – Swimming is allowed again at the Tondaligan beach by the city government after a year of being closed to the public due to the pandemic.
Mayor Brian Lim issued Executive Order 22-2021 on Friday, July 9, for the reopening of the famous beach to swimmers but only in the water enclosed by buoys.
Prior to the order, the Tondaligan was open only to promenaders.
The order also permitted swimming in beach areas outside of Tondaligan but health protocols have to be enforced by barangay officials.
Meanwhile, swimming pools and water recreational parks in the city are also allowed to operate but at 50 percent capacity.
However, the city government’s swimming pool at Barangay Poblacion Oeste remains closed and its use is prohibited, Lim said.
Dagupan is under modified general community quarantine.
As of Saturday, the city recorded a total of 1,833 cases of coronavirus disease since the pandemic started in March 2020.
The city also has 1,666 total recoveries and 87 deaths. The total number of active cases is 82.
