PNP deploys more cops to impose health protocols in Manila’s ‘white sand beach’

More policemen were deployed in Manila Bay to ensure health protocols are observed among people wanting to see the "dolomite white sand."

MANILA BAY’S WHITE SAND BEACH: A number of people have been allowed to walk in and view the 500-meter stretch of white sand that now covers a portion of the Manila Bay, but police allowed a limited number of people to observe health protocols.

MANILA, Philippines — More police personnel were deployed in Manila Bay to ensure health protocols are observed among people wanting to see the “dolomite white sand” beach despite the threat of the Delta variant, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Tuesday.

Police chief Guillermo Eleazar said he tasked Manila Police District (MPD) to deploy more personnel in the “white sand” beach that remains open until Tuesday. The dolomite beach was opened to the public on Sunday.

“I have tasked the Manila Police District to deploy additional policemen in the area to ensure that persons who visit the beach observe minimum public health safety standards and follow quarantine protocols,” Eleazar said in a statement.

Eleazar added that the area needs regular monitoring “to make sure that the incident when visitors failed to observe social distancing will never happen again.”

To recall, the police chief of Ermita district was sacked from his position for alleged failure to impose physical distancing among visitors in Manila Bay white sand beach. h

“May pulis na na-relieve sa pwesto dahil sa insidente noong nakaraang taon kaya’t babala ko din sa ating kapulisan na huwag mag-pabaya at siguraduhing mababantayan nila ang lugar para hindi na magkatanggalan pa,” Eleazar pointed out.

(There was a policeman who was relieved from his position because of the incident last year, which is why I remind the policemen not to be neglectful and keep watch the area to avoid termination.)
