MANILA, Philippines — Catholics are again encouraged to attend Masses through online livestreams after dioceses in Metro Manila ordered the suspension of religious gatherings to help curb the spread of COVID-19 in the region.

This follows the imposition of enhanced community quarantine — the strictest quarantine level — in the National Capital Region from Aug. 6 to Aug. 20.

“We encourage the faithful to stay at home and stay safe … We will reopen our churches for public worship on Aug. 21 if conditions improve,” Bishop Honest Ongtioco of Cubao said on Saturday.
