Cafgu member slain, another hurt in shooting incident inside military camp in Sorsogon

LEGAZPI CITY––A member of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) was killed, while another was hurt in a shooting incident Monday inside their camp in Sorsogon City in Sorsogon province.

Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, said in a report that Aljhon Docus, 26, died on the spot, while Jaime Almonte, 33, was wounded after being shot by Marvin Velasco, 31, inside the 1st Albay Cafgu Active Auxiliary 2 Camp in Barangay Rizal in West District of the said city at 1:05 a.m. They were all Cafgu members, the report said.

Calubaquib said, based on the initial investigation, when Ducos and Velasco had a heated argument inside the barracks, the latter took his issued long firearm then shot the victim several times.

Almonte, who was trying to pacify them, was also shot by Velasco. He was taken to a hospital for medication.

Before the incident, the suspect and victims had a drinking spree inside the Kalayaan Hall of the camp, Calubaquib said.

Velasco was arrested after the incident, while further investigation is ongoing.
