SAN ANTONIO, Zambales At least seven volcanic earthquakes were recorded in Mt. Pinatubo on Sunday, August 1, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Alert level 1 or low-level unrest remains hosted over Pinatubo, which has been experiencing imperceptible or not easily noticed earthquakes since last month.

Phivolcs said the most recent seismic activities were recorded in the last 24 hours but there was no indication of an imminent eruption.

FEATURED STORIES

In January this year, Pinatubo began experiencing a series of volcanic earthquakes that eventually became more frequent until March. This led Phivolcs to elevate the alert level at Mt. Pinatubo from zero to one.

It was the first time that the alert level was raised at Mt. Pinatubo, which was placed on normal status in 1996. INQ
