BAGUIO CITY—A distressed fisherman who spent his days floating at sea on a worn-out Styrofoam icebox was rescued Sunday by his fellow fishermen in the waters off San Sebastian town, Ilocos Sur province, authorities said.

The police said Romy Dulay of Bolinao town in Pangasinan went missing on Aug. 5 after going out to sea amid southwest monsoon rains.

Jimmy Baldeviso and his son Joshua, who were fishing near the coast of Barangay Apatot in San Esteban, spotted Dulay and immediately rescued and brought him to the shore.

He was taken to the Ilocos Sur District Hospital in Narvacan town, also in Ilocos Sur, for treatment.
