Over 70 percent of San Juan City's population now fully vaccinated

MANILA, Philippines — San Juan City has exceeded its target of fully vaccinating 70 percent of its population, Mayor Francis Zamora announced Tuesday.

Zamora said 98,590 persons have so far been fully vaccinated in San Juan City, exceeding 70 percent of its 132,512 population based on figures from the Asian Development Bank.

“Ako po ay natutuwa na ipaalam sa inyo na ang San Juan po ay, as of yesterday, kami po ay nakapagbakuna na po ng 147,421 sa kanilang first dose, at 98,590 para sa kanilang second dose,” said Zamora in an online Palace briefing.

Meanwhile, the local government of Mandaluyong and Pateros said they have so far given one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to more than 70 percent of their population.

Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos, who was also a guest at the briefing, said 325,188 persons have been given their first dose, surpassing 70 percent or 325,127 of their 464,467 population.

Pateros Mayor Miguel Ponce III, on the other hand, said they have given at least one dose to 51,732, exceeding their target of 49,000. He said Pateros has a population of around 70,000.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairperson Benhur Abalos said there are already 3.9 million persons fully vaccinated in Metro Manila.

In the entire country, 11.3 million individuals have already been fully vaccinated against the dreaded COVID-19, according to the government.
