OLONGAPO CITY 鈥 Only 22 beds dedicated to COVID-19 patients remained vacant in the city鈥檚 four health facilities, data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed on Wednesday.

The city鈥檚 bed occupancy rate, which is already at 78.8 percent, is considered as 鈥渉igh risk鈥 based on the DOH鈥檚 classification.

Records from the agency said 82 of the 104 COVID-19 beds in the city have already been occupied.

Last week, Fr. Raymann Catindig, Columban College鈥檚 president, said Bishop Bartolome Santos of the Diocese of Iba has permitted the city government to again use the 5-storey hotel in Barangay Barretto as an alternative isolation facility.

It was in August last year when the same hotel was tapped as a COVID-19 facility in the city following a surge in COVID-19 cases.
