SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — At least 13 workers of the medical dispensary and satellite emergency unit of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority here have tested positive for COVID-19, prompting the suspension of its face-to-face service.

In a statement on Sunday (Aug. 29), Wilma Eisma, SBMA chairman and administrator, said the infected health workers had to be quarantined for 14 days, causing a shortage in personnel at its health unit in Subic Bay International Airport.

Eisma said the agency will continue to provide emergency medical services in the next two weeks while the infected personnel undergo treatment.

The SBMA has been extending telemedicine services to attend to Subic stakeholders when imposing a community lockdown due to a virus outbreak.

Recently, two SBMA Public Health and Safety Department staff members and a volunteer doctor in the DOH-SBMA vaccination program had also tested positive for COVID-19.
