MANILA, Philippines 鈥 Some 15,000 doses of Sputnik V鈥檚 Component II, the Russian-made COVID-19 vaccine, arrived in the Philippines on Tuesday night.
The government-procured vaccine doses arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Terminal 3 at past 10:30 p.m.
The doses are intended to be administered as second doses.
Experts recommend that the two doses of the vaccine be administered 42 days apart.
Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., the national vaccine manager, earlier said those who had received Sputnik V as their first dose could have AstraZeneca for the second shot should there be further delays in supply.
The聽delay in the delivery of Sputnik V聽is聽said to be due to 鈥渙ngoing upgrades and latest developments鈥 on the vaccine.
