DOH adjusts Wednesday’s COVID case tally after tech glitch

From 12,751 cases, the DOH has added over 5,000 more cases of COVID-19 infections for the Wednesday's COVID count amid tech glitches.

MANILA, Philippines — From 12,751 cases, the Department of Health (DOH) has added over 5,000 more cases of COVID-19 infections for the Wednesday’s COVID count amid glitches in the data collection system.

“Due to the technical issues encountered with COVIDKaya yesterday, we report an additional 5,132 cases from the 12,751 cases yesterday, September 8,” the DOH said in a statement on Thursday.

With this, new confirmed cases for September 8 climbed to 17,883 as the DOH initially reported 12,751.

The additional cases drove the overall case count to 2,139,137.

Likewise, the DOH listed 41 fresh recoveries during the same period, driving the recovery tally to 20,192 for Wednesday.

Meantime, the death toll remained at 34,672.

The DOH noted that issues still hound the data collection system and are being addressed.

“To date, the Department of Information and Communications Technology is still addressing the technical issues encountered with COVIDKaya,” DOH said.
