Deaths from ‘Jolina’ rise to 12 in Eastern Visayas

TACLOBAN CITY—The number of deaths in Eastern Visayas due to Severe Tropical Storm ‘Jolina’ increased to 12 on Thursday, Sept. 9, with the recovery of three more bodies.

Local authorities recovered at 9:17 a.m. the body of Nathaniel Ripalda, 18, of Tanauan, Leyte, along Binahaan River, also in the same town, and of Elvis Catienza, 37, around 8 a.m. in Barangay San Roque, Culaba town, Biliran.

The two were earlier reported missing.

Another still unidentified body was recovered at the shoreline of Barangay Manraya, San Antonio town, Northern Samar at 6:30 a.m.

The other fishermen, Rolly Oledan, 43 of Zumarraga, Samar; and Rolly Reguero, 72 of Kawayan, Biliran, are still missing.
