Tropical Storm Jolina leaves 15 dead, 10 missing — NDRRMC

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm Jolina left 15 people dead and 10 people missing in its wake, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Saturday.

In its report, the NDRRMC said that at least 20 people were also injured in the storm’s aftermath.

A total of 37,022 families or 140,444 people were affected by Tropical Storm Jolina, the NDRRMC said.

Agriculture and infrastructure damage

Damage to agriculture because of Jolina was placed at P190 million. Most of the damage was recorded in the Eastern Visayas at P65 million, and in the Bicol Region at P57 million.

Damage to infrastructure meanwhile was estimated at P30 million. Most of the damage was reported in the Bicol Region at P29 million.

A total of 6,259 houses were also damaged by Jolina. Of this number, 6,259 were partially damaged, and 316 houses were totally destroyed.

Many of the damaged houses are in the Eastern Visayas at 4,903. Of this number, 4,798 were partially destroyed, and 105 were fully destroyed.

Tropical Storm Jolina left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday.
