PH logs 19,271 new COVID-19 cases; total now at 2,366,749.
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health on Sunday logged 19,271 new COVID-19 cases bringing the total number of cases in the country to 2,366,749.
This number accounts for 25.1 percent of the total number of individuals tested at 70,571, the DOH said.
Meanwhile, the DOH reported a higher number of recoveries at 25,037, boosting the total number of recoveries to 2,151,765.
The number of active COVID-19 infections, on the other hand, is currently at 178,196 nationwide, which accounts for 7.5 percent of the total number of infections.
Article continues after this advertisementOf the total number of COVID-19 patients, 92.3 percent are classified as mild cases, 3.1 percent are asymptomatic, 2.60 percent are moderate, 1.4 percent are severe, and 0.6 percent are critical cases.
Article continues after this advertisementTwo laboratories were not able to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System, the DOH said. These two laboratories contribute, on average, 0.7 percent of the samples tested and 0.9 percent of individuals who tested positive.
The DOH also recorded 205 new deaths, bringing the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 36,788.
The DOH added that 72 duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which 57 are recoveries.
“Moreover, 94 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said.
The DOH also reported that 77 percent of ICU beds, 67 percent of isolation beds, 72 percent of ward beds, and 56 percent of ventilators are currently in use across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In Metro Manila, meanwhile, occupancy of ICU beds is currently at 77 percent, isolation beds at 66 percent, ward beds at 73 percent while 61 percent of available ventilators are also being used in the region, said the DOH.
