23 areas still under Signal No. 1 as TD Lannie makes 4th landfall

MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-three areas in the country are still under Signal No. 1 as Tropical Depression Lannie made its fourth landfall on Monday.

Based on the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa)’s 11 a.m. update, Lannie was spotted over the coastal waters of Maasin City, Southern Leyte at 10 a.m.

Lannie made landfall over the Bucas Grande Island, Socorro, Surigao del Norte; Cagdianao, Dinagat Islands; Liloan, Southern Leyte; and Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte.

It is now moving west northwestward at 20 kilometers per hour (kph). It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains may be expected over Visayas, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands, and Dinagat Islands until Tuesday morning.

Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) and the rest of Bicol Region, and Mindanao may experience light to moderate with at times heavy rains.

Pagasa cautioned the public against potential scattered flooding including flash floods and rain-induced landslides especially in areas that are “highly or very highly susceptible to these hazard.”
