SANTIAGO CITY鈥擜 77-year-old former mayor here filed on Monday, Oct. 4, her certificate of candidacy (COC) in another bid to get elected for the city鈥檚 top position.
Amelita Sison-Navarro, a nurse and past president of the Auxiliary to the Philippine Medical Association, was elected vice mayor in the late 90s but served as acting mayor when the Ombudsman suspended the incumbent mayor for various cases.
鈥淚 would like to pursue my passion of public service to my fellow Santiaguenos, so I would offer myself again,鈥 Navarro, who belongs to the Reporma Party of Senator Panfilo Lacson, said when she filed her candidacy.
In 2019, Navarro withdrew her bid for a congressional seat and later filed her COC for mayor. She lost to now three-term Mayor Joseph Tan.
